Oats, extremely rich in fiber and has become an ideal food these days. Wanna make an easy and healthy recipe out of it??? Go for this one.. Try to prepare this on a non-stick tawa if possible, as you will not be needing much oil at all to fry the Uthappam.. got fried very nicely just with 2-3 drops of oil both the sides.
Ingredients:
1 cup Oats(Crushed lightly with hands)
1/2 cup Sooji
1/4 cup Curd
2 spoons of soaked Chana dal(Pachi Senaga pappu)
1 small Tomato chopped
1 small onion chopped
2 Green Chillies chopped
Pinch of Turmeric
Chopped Coriander leaves
1 tsp Jeera(crushed with palms)
If desired, add some shredded Carrot
Salt to taste
Directions:
1. Add oats, sooji and curd in a wide bowl. Mix well with hands and then add water to it to prepare a thick batter. Let it rest for 30 mins.
2. Adjust water if you the batter has become too thick. Add all the remaining ingredients to the batter.
3. Heat a dosa pan/tawa on medium flame and spread the batter softly like dosa. Sprinkle some dhaniyala karam on the top if interested. Add 2-3 drops oil to it.
4. Once the bottom side of the Uthappam is fried well, turn it upside down and let it fry evenly.
5. When both sides are done, remove from the tawa and serve hot with Coconut Chutney.
